I wonder if it is plausible. Growing tired of docs thumbsuck in 5 minutes diagnoses, rinse and repeat same rudimentary tests the last 3 before them did routine. Perhaps the academic field with the emphasis on research could offer something.

The general idea is to exclude what's dangerous and will kill or incapacitate you. When that's excluded, you may find that in many if not most conditions, the diagnosis is elusive. Your doc has to run some tests because in case of malpractice, he'll be found guilty of negligence if he doesn't. Best way to avoid that is to ask for copies of all results and carry those around with you when you attend some new doc.

I do exactly that by they still insist on doing it. Ironic since they defer from extensive testing because of "costs" but no problem doing the same few tests who's results from a few days before is right in front of them.

as for malpractice never came across one concerned about it in the least.

It's hard to comment on that not knowing all the specifics.

People (docs) don't often think consciously of that. But the concern is usually there.

Doctors are discouraged by medical aids to do extensive testing because they have to justify it but for some reason they can do the same rudimentary tests over and over because there's ample justification for them. Some tests are justifiably done a couple of times since they are prone to anomalies but most not. If you're a private patient you can ask that they do the extensive tests anyway.

There are some fundamental flaws in our health care profession and doctors are keen to cling to archaic concepts like e.g. that a Vitamin B12 test can show a B12 deficiency. I have long advocated private testing so patients knowledgeable (many of us that have long standing health issues know more about our condition than the doctors) can do testing without a doctor's approval. Any lab willing to take this up?

Ive tried private labs. Synexa being one of them. Something actually did come up in a test they did but Ive been waiting weeks for a reply now. Phone the technician Ive been dealing with last week Monday and was told I'll be contacted by their specialist the next day and nothing so phoned them on Friday again and was promised I'll be contacted during the day and again nothing. Other labs havent replied to my inquiries for info on their websites. In fact neither did synexa until I phoned them. Docs are the same.

Anyway went an had that same test done by lancet so I could get an accurate figure but either the doc or lancet themselves stuffed up and it wasnt done either.

Just the usual dealings with this so called "profession"
