depends on the lens, but with flash: manual, 1/160s, f4-f8, usually ISO 100
without flash: Av, ??, f4-f8 (usually as large an aperture as possible), up to ISO 1600, tripod

2) Outdoor
Again, depends on lens. Av (except when I use flash, then M), f (depends on lens), tripod (depends on lens).

Whatever you do, avoid the full auto setting.

Ok, I did :p

Yeah i dont want to use the auto setting - i used it alot when i got the camera tho.

95+% of the time my camera is set on Aperture Priority (sorry - I dont know the Nikon terminology for that setting). I prefer to be able to control my DOF over shutter speed.

Indoors I generally have my 50mm f/1.8 or my 16-35mm f/2.8 on and wide open with the ISO as low as I can go. I've got a decent flash but tend to avoid it if I can.

Outdoors - one camera usually has the 70-200 f/4 and the other the 16-35mm f/2.8. I'll throw on the 50mm for portraits and the 28-300 for general walkabout - or that 17-55 kit lens for the beach.

Real men shoot in M :p

But seriously, same as bwana, really - Av most of the time. Lately I've been forcing myself to use the flash (Sigma DG530 Super) when shooting indoors, really just to get the hang of it. I'm starting to appreciate it a little more.
