I was forced to speak and learn Afrikants because of Apartheid. Grew up hating that god-forsaken language and learned isiZulu instead now.

On the Real though.

Bilingual is merely one way to add mental agility to your brain. Practicing problem solving, mathematics (arguably a language), solving a problem using your feet instead of your hands. Like opening a door. Anything that requires mental variation will do this for you. So while multiple languages is certainly valuable in many ways socially. It is not as though the mental benefit that it brings is unattainable by other means.

Variation and Challenge are the two most important factors when exercising your brain box.
