Hello everyone, I have recently moved into a new place and had a new line installed (Recently = about 3 months ago - but that is how long I have been dogging Telkom). I am trying to set up my ADSL.

Apparently the line is active and it has been "verified" by Telkom when I phoned in the 19th time.

So, I have a Belkin N 150 Wireless Router which shows an ADSL connection but will not connect to the internet.

I have set it up using PPPoE, my username and pw from Webafrica, VPI/VCI = 8/35, LLC encapsulation and MTU 1492.

Can someone please tell me what is up that makes it not be happy? I am trying with both Vista 64 and XP Pro. Am I missing something?

[edit] - I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place.

An update...

I took the Belkin Router back, swopped it for PS3 games and tried to connect using the Billion 7300G RA. I now get the message: "Fail!! WAN port setting is not successful, you can do this procedure again."

My ADSL status reports the following:

DSP Firmware Version DMT FwVer: 3.10.17.0_A_TC, HwVer:T14F7_5.0
DMT Status Up
Operational Mode ADSL2+
Upstream 511 kbps
Downstream 4096 kbps
SNR Margin (Upstream) 11.8 db
SNR Margin (Downstream) 28.6 db
Line Attenuation (Upstream) 21.0 db
Line Attenuation (Downstream) 36.0 db

This seems like there is an ADSL connection available, why won't it let me surf the awesome internet?

Firstly, I'm sorry about the triple post.

While browsing other threads I stumbled onto a phone number:

 0800375375

They do not keep business hours and have lovely and helpful staff. The lady on the other end reset something (probably their port) after verifying that there was no "reported" issue with the exchange. I then restarted the Billion and everything worked. Yay!

The point is, I seem to have returned a perfectly good Belkin N150 router and ended up with functional ADSL, a new Billion 7300G RA router and two new games to entertain myself and friends. Yay! Some more.

[edit] spelling and grammar.
