Ben Gurion University boycott

I think that the problem is with the flavour of politicians. I presume that their agenda is to place us back into the dark ages?

Now we will link with all the fine universities in Nigeria.
:(

And yet sanity prevailed and the UJ University senate decided not to boycott. Would have been shooting themselves in the foot if they had though as the main research is being done to assist with local SA water purification.

the two universities will brainstorm on how they can contribute to ongoing South African research into water purification in rural areas and around the Hartbeespoort Dam. In addition, they will research the feasibility of harvesting algae from the Dam and converting it to energy. The Hartbeespoort Dam remediation programme is being implemented by the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF) to address the imbalances and unhealthy biological conditions in the dam.

Way too much politics in sport and education.

What though, is also absurd here is Ben Gurion University is known for its left wing views and was recently under attack in Israel by an Israeli right wing organisation.

Recently an organization called Im Tirtzu has begun a tough campaign directed against the university named after Ben-Gurion. This organization has even informed the university’s president Prof. Rivka Carmi that in the event that she fails to dismiss faculty members with “left wing agendas” it will approach foreign investors and ensure that they cut off their donations to the university

Shooting yourself in the foot to get one over the juice is a favourite pastime for many......

Im at UJ. Hope the MSA push for this again. Time to disassociate ourselves with the Zionists.

Id prefer to collaborate with people who dont view us as 'gentiles'

And why exactly would you want to server ties with an institution that is actually attempting to help find solutions to problems in this country?

Who gives a toss how they as a country view us, its the results of the research that matter in this case.

Plus I fail to see how viewing us as 'gentiles' is a bad thing, considering to the Jewish its means "a person who is not Jewish, esp. a Christian... or a heathen or pagan.". Both of those descriptions are perfectly acceptable given their religious background and ours.

No matter what you do.. politics will always come into your world
Take a look at FIFA.. they tell governments not to involve politics with soccer
Then they turn around and ban countries from their organization because of problems in that country

Politicians will always make stupid mistakes.. its not a permanent job... their life moves on :D
