Hi,

I'm looking at possibly upgrading some machines and as such I'd like to make sure they really need the upgrade.

Is there any software that can run in the background and note CPU / RAM / DISK usage for the day or week and then provide a report on the high's and lows so I know where to best spend my money?

Thanks and Regards,
J

I know it can stress test etc, but can it report over a period of time?

e.g. I want to track PC usage for the day - the highs and lows and then draw a report on where the machine struggles.

Then if disk is the issue I will get SSD's etc...

I don't want an instant report but rather a report over time.

Depends:

Basic tools includes Speccy etc.

Advanced tools:

Centrastage (Free version) - Need to query this. etc.

MS tools:

MAP - http://www.microsoft.com/sam/en/us/map.aspx
MSIA - http://www.microsoft.com/sam/en/ca/msia.aspx

Look under the the MS "SAM Tools" tab.

Need reporting, go with the MS provided tools, it is gratis.

Thanks for the suggestions but nothing truly gave me what I wanted.

I opted for a Nagios style system instead.

I installed Nagios then Check_MK and enabled graphing for the Windows agents. I can then pull a report based on usage and check high's / lows and act accordingly.
