I'm tempted to go for this screen. Upgrading from a 16:10 19" wide. Only thing which irks me from seeing the specs is that it's 16:9 - but I have come to realise any 16:10 bigger than 22" will cost at least R1000 more than the BenQ.

Reviews seem good, most saying the glossy stand is the biggest problem, which I wouldn't mind.

Anyone have personal thoughts on this LCD? http://www.benq.com/products/LCD/?product=1453

Does anyone think I would be better off with a 22" 16:10 if I prefer 16:10?

I cant really comment on aspect ratio but i have the BenQ 22" 16:9 and its an awesome awesome monitor. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, and it was R600 cheaper than any of the other makes at the time :D

Nice to know, have also heard good things about their screens considering the price and value for money. Also 3 year warranty.

Come on guys, some of you must have the G2410HD after ESQ's specials etc. :D

Like they say on the ad/specs from the link you show, 16:10 does not give the best aspect ratio for displaying Full HD content. Full HD = 1920x1080 (1920/1080 = 1.778), which is also 16/9 = 1.778, while 16/10= 1.6.

So 16:9 gives a great aspect. Its also nice to work on, I've got a 16:9 myself.

I replaced my Acer AL2017 with the G2410HD two weeks ago when the special was announced and am more than happy with it.

Mine was R1399 excl from my usual middleman but I believe they cannot source them at this price any longer.

BTW I've had a BenQ T705 for over 3 years and had no problems with it.

16:10 is much better if you use the screen for productivity. I.E 2 documents viewable at once. 16:9 better for movies.

Ya 1920 x 1080 (16:9) displays are pretty much the norm now, and they're so much cheaper than 1920 x 1200 (16:10)

I understand why you prefer the 16:10 displays, but a 22" 16:10 display pretty much costs the same, but actually has fewer vertical pixels still coz it's 1680 x 1050

That's what I'm thinking. A 23-24" 16:9 basically makes a 22" 16:10 pointless.

The monitor would be used for productivity. Mainly wide supplier Excel spreadsheets, come to think of it 16:9 would probably even be better for that since it's wider.

Anyone unsure about this monitor, I can fully recommend it!

In terms of dimensions, it isn't deep at all, nor is the stand, so it can get quite close to a wall/something behind it. The design is quite minimal in the sense that is is just plain glossy black (although not very reflective which is great) that flows equally almost everywhere in a rectangle, except where the control panel is in the bottom right where the black extends downwards a bit. This monitor looks like a PC monitor and doesn't have the new curvy Samsung/LG look which I don't really like.

There is nothing that distracts me, for example with the Samsung 2333SW, its glossy sides reflect stuff on the screen next to them. Also, the light is small and green which again isn't distracting. The stand is actually matt which I'm happy about, unlike in most of the reviews I read where it was glossy, which people were critical of.

The monitor simply snapped into the base (much easier than Samsungs), and I plugged in my existing power and DVI cables. I am still using the default picture setting and the vibrancy of colours and clarity is just amazing! Far superior than my 19" wide. Feels like the first time I saw a full HD 23", when I was blown away by the quality. I've got that same feeling.

There is absolutely no light bleeding, nor any dead pixels. So chuffed! :)

i have the Benq G2412HD, and I think it's outstanding. Crisp picture, looks good, nice for the games I play, and big. The only downside I can think of is that if the desk is bumped, the screen waggles; not a totally rigid attachment to the base.

i just bought one, wil compare to my samsung and post finding, but so far, its decent, and a lot better price, shame on everyone else selling their stuff for so much :(

ok, so I've been running my BenQ for some time now, and I have to say, apart from the HDMI input on the 2494, this is a decent damn monitor! I can highly recommend it!

/facepalm

Let's not do this again, please.
