Best 7" / 8" Tablet for 6k?

My brother is looking for a tablet for around 6k or less (the cheaper the better). We've had a look at what Orange offers though we aren't forced to get from them of course so anywhere else is alright...

He is going to be using it for flying purposes mainly as well as a little bit for apps, games, movies etc...

Requirements:
Something small - 7" / 8" screen size is good
GPS - For use with navigation (Air Navigation Pro)
Good battery life
3G/LTE connectivity would be nice

I don't think it would be the best idea to look at something with less than 1GB RAM and a Quad-Core CPU.
He used to run the GPS app on an iPhone 4 and it did work but I guess for the future a Quad-Core is nice. The app is now running on his Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and is working well.

The options we've seen are the following:
iPad Mini 2 16GB WiFi + Cellular (When is that available from Apple SA?)
Nexus 7 2013 32GB LTE
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 16GB + 3G
Just had a look at the LG G Pad 8.3 and its beautiful:love:

So considering the phone he uses and the requirements, what would you guys recommend?:)

I speak from experience, the Nexus 7 is brilliant! I have the 32GB 2012 model and I love it. Form factor is perfect and battery lasts ages! Mine is the WiFi model, I think the GSM one would use a bit more battery though.
 
Nexus 7 2013 LTE or LG G Pad 8.3 Google Edition should be the only ones considered, IMO. The iPad Mini Retina is out of the price range, unless he is looking to go with a 16GB version.
 
iPad Mini 2 should be on the border of R6k. That's my recommendation. But otherwise I'm sure he'll be happy with the Nexus7 and it's the cheapest of the whole lot here.
 
Please try the Note 8 from HiFi Corp.
They got the Note 8 3G for R4999.
Tell them its in the sales brochure.

Thats the best deal on a quad core 7/8 inch.

Its a great device. I own one myself:love: Though my brother doesn't seem overly excited himself:erm:

Can't get the Google edition on the LG, would have to get the standard one - Don't think it will make a big difference for him anyway:p. If he were to go for the iPad, it would be the 16GB, I just find its hard to recommend it over the other tablets

Its the only thing letting the tab down actually. Its powerful and he is using a S4 Mini so he is used to the UI. I've got the Note 2 and he likes the S-Pen and the UI on that - not that the pen is necessary at all and will not be a deciding factor for him
