Hi guys
After weeks of researching I believe I have finally found a good value for money gamer PC. The PC will be used mainly for games like CIV5, Starcraft 2 and movies. The specs are as follows:
Amd socket AM3 955 - R 1,630
MSI 790GX-G65 – R1,199
Kingston Hyper-X KHX11000D3K2/4G [ 2 X 2GB KIT ] – R1,100
MSI Radeon HD 5850 – R2,999
Coolermaster RC-632s-SKN1 ( Meshed Side Panel ) – R487
Seagate Barracuda 1TB – R755
OCZ StealthXStream 600W – R879
BOX TOTAL: R9,049 (I've left the dvd rom out for now)
SAMSUNG B2330H – R1,825
Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 7000 – R1,027
TOTAL: R2,854
And that’s that, what do you think? The main reason that I went with the MSI board is that it has 8x8 CrossfireX and I plan on running 2 5850’s crossfire once the PC falls behind somewhat. Also, if I may tap into your unbridled tech knowledge for a sec...
-Would it be feasible to scale down the RAM to Kingston Value Ram for R140 less?
-Would the PSU be powerful enough to run 2x 5850’s in Crossfire? Is the OCZ even necessary? Could I instead go for the Cooler master Extreme Power Plus 600w for R120 less?
With regards to the Laser Desktop set... well you only buy a keyboard and mouse once and I think it’s sexy as hell
Please advise me where you feel necessary and leave a deluge of opinions
