Hey guys

Which is the best ISP for gaming? I have a 2mbps line.

I don't mind either capped on uncapped as long as I get a good connection.

I don't download much anyway.

My budget is around R200 per month (excluding line rental of course).

Please let me know what you guys think.

Thanks is advance.

Axxess Capped - 50gb = R189.00

Always Unshaped
This service has no prioritization of any traffic. In other words; unshaped is a better, faster connection.

24/7 Support
Our support team is legendary. Give us a call anytime to see why!

OR:

Check out Afrihost CAPPED Packages and compare.

Thanks man I was looking for a good deal on unshaped adsl.

You can get 100gigs over at afrihost for 199. That is taking their 2 for 1 thing into account though...which may or may not be re-newed (they usually do)

+1 Also a good option (More data / double data etc..)

I'm looking for speed over volume. As I said I hardly download, but thanks for the heads up.

Afrihost and Axxess are owned by the same people and afaik share the same backbone so its much of a sameness. The capped accounts from all the major ISPs should be fine tbh.

I'm trying out Axxess which uses the MTN backbone and I'm from Richards Bay and the latency in game to international sites is actually very good. I'm getting 198ms to Franceand Germany so its not bad hey.

You could use that link to test out how the MTN backbone works for you. Its uncapped but 90% discount for your first month and 50% discount for the next month. Still way cheaper than signing up for the capped option directly so that is why I am suggesting it. Its a great way to test it.

If you take the 2Mbps account the first month will only be R27 and the next month will only be R133 which is better than the capped account prices for the first 2 months. You can cancel after that if you want too.

BTW its a referal link cause thats the only way to get that rate. I'm using it to test it aswell and its not doing badly at all in games. Well I most play League of Legends

I have an Afrihost try me out account and my latency in COD4 sits between 37 / 50.

I am going to try the unshaped account tonight and see if it gets any better.

For CoD4 you'd want an IS account...they're about 10ms lower than the rest. e.g. Mine is at 26.

(Obviously depends on the server, but the above goes for Delta/igame).

NB this depends on location/exchange too...i.e. chances are you won't get down to 26 regardless of account purely because you're a little further away physically.

IS account? More details please.

IS...Internet Solutions backbone.

Afrihost uses the MTN backbone, Telkom uses SAIX & lots of others use IS.

If you specifically want low latency to the igame servers then one of the IS based ISP would be best (in my experience).

e.g. I'm using Openweb Silver uncapped. Its really not all that sensitive to specific packages though - you're not going to gain much from getting something expensive. The expensive part helps more on the international front.

If you're on a bad exchange then you're screwed though...no ISP will help there. And the fact that you post "37 / 50" doesn't bode well...it shouldn't fluctuate to that heavily unless something is messing with you (e.g. mine rarely jumps more than +-3 (unusually stable exchange though).

Then go with a lower cap, and spend the money on a faster line rental. Either way Afrihost have some good capped pricing.

I think I may just do that. Hardly any difference with my new Axxess unshaped line.

It does stay in the 30's most of the time now and my bullets register better.

Still not as good as my old line at my previous address, but back then I was on a 4mb line.
