Hello everyone.
What would be the best android phone I could get on contract at R300. pm max?

Nothing wrong with the S3.

Like all Samsung phones it feels like cheap plastic.

I'd take the V over the S3 any day. Even over the S4.

Never mind the fact the V can be dropped on tiles without issue. Try that with a Samsung product.

nonsense...it feels like expensive plastic...

I've dropped my S2 on tiles and it still works 100% (was in pieces but easily re-assembled).

S3 vs V: only differencess seem to be software, front camera, and CPU. (and size)

http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_v-review-877p4.php -> would indicate that the different CPU's don't make that much of a difference.
Yeah not much between the 2.

V:
water resistant,
better ppi screen
more MP camera

VS.

S3
bigger screen
bigger battery

Not sure about the CPU, will have to look at benchmarks. Does the local V come with LTE?

Software support:
I think it is safe to assume that the S3 will see android 4.3, not so sure about the V. (Samsung seems to be better in this regard).
S3 probably has a larger developer community for better custom ROM support (simply because of number of units sold).

Subjective.

My blue S3 doesn't feel cheap at all to me. Friend of mine has the Z I played with it and was underwhelmed by the "build quality". I would pick the S4 over the Z any day.

The V does have LTE.
