I hope those with experience/knowledge could contribute to a thread for current/future Chartered Accountant hopefuls.
I've heard various theories/rumours/"true rumours" with regards to advantages/disadvantages of doing training at the various audit firms in South Africa.
If you have an opinion on the matter, could you please share it, as I'm currently deliberating on the best audit firm to go to.
I guess the best is to "know what you want" and then pick accordingly - however, if one has some doubts about ones future career, or perhaps wants to mitigate against the risk of possibly changing from one career path to another (e.g. from manufacturing to financial services), what would be the best audit firm to do ones articles at?
- Where did you go?
- Which firm has the best exposure?
- First (big 4) or second (e.g. BDO, Grant Thorton) tier?
- If one is interested in financial services, where and which firm would be the best?
- If one is interested in advisory/consulting, where and which firm would be the best?
