If you're new to Cape Town you might be overwhelmed by the fine selection of beaches of offer. Here is a short guide based on a few categories:

Family Friendly Beaches:
Strand, Gordon's Bay, Noordhoek, Scarborough, Sea Point, Muizenburg, Fish Hoek, St James, Boulder's

Trendy Beaches:
Camps Bay, Clifton, Llandudno,

Surfing Beaches:
Muizenberg, Milnerton, Blouberg, Long Beach

Kite-Surfing:
Milnerton, Gordon's Bay

Beach Braai Spots:
Oudekraal, Maidens Cove

Beaches with Tidal Pools:
Sea Point, St James, Camps Bay

Kogelbaai

Strand and Gordon's Bay is okay, but Kogelbaai is just amazing. 5 minute drive from Gordon's bay Bikini Beach.

They have started having outdoor parties there again (out of season). What a beautiful venue. Nothing like a morning swim/surf after a long night jamming under the stars

Has anyone slept in a tent at Kogelbay? Will a tent work or will the baboons hassle you or something when you're sleeping? can they open tents?
