Have been battling with Joomla for a while and not getting to grips with it, so am thinking that it may be a sign to look at other options.

I need to develop a better looking and more functional website than our current site (www.anresco.org - yes yes, I know....).

Would like to include functions like an opt-in service for a weekly newsletter (HTML and Text), the ability for members to join (suppose this will be included with the newsletter service), a higher level membership for our Affiliate Partners who will have access to administer their specific pages.

Would also like to include an adoption section where animals available for adoption can be uploaded and details added to pictures of the animal available.

And if possible, a blogging section for the various blogs we have running concerning discussions around the APA, OBP horses and other initiatives we have in the pipeline.

Not asking for a lot am I? :D

TIA

Is Wordpress not aimed more at blogging only?

Is Drupal easier to work with?

Wordpress can be pretty much anything you want it to be. It stopped being a pure blogging system awhile back.

Don't know enough about Drupal to comment.

Will definitely give it a look-in then.

With the release of WordPress 3.0 it is now more a CMS than before. WordPress has come a long way from just being a blogging platform when it started, most web dev companies nowadays make use of WordPress for their CMS systems.

Wordpress is still far from being a full-blown CMS, though it is easy to work with.

I would suggest Drupal and would be willing to help for free for your NPO site.

Wordpress +1 does everything and more than most people generally need and if it doesn't, there is a plug-in that does.

Why do you say its far from being a full-blown CMS? What is your definition of a full-blown CMS?

It doesn't provide nearly the same amount of functionality that, say, the Views and Taxonomy modules in Drupal do.

That said, WP is often a good fit for a simple site.

Take a look at www.easycmslite.com. This is a CMS developed by us. It is not feature rich like the Joomlas, but it is meant to get your sites out with almost no effort. There is also a dedicated demo server there so you can take a look at it and try it out.

Its free to use. If you host with us, we'll install it for you too....
