...specifically BF2.

I would like to run access to the internet for 3 pc's on a D-Link router. All three have WinXP, one has Pro. Only one really needs to be running BF2, but I'd love the option for more. (Interesting thread about bandwidth splitting on the forum was very helpful.)

My iBurst connection is not doing it for me, at all. For those not familiar with the iBurst plague, we sufferers tend to get ping spikes all the time...90-455-233-344-112-566....not much fun. The chopper full of dudes that crash due me lagging out are not sympathetic. Fair enough.

So what is the best combo for my gaming? Telkom 512 and Axxess 20GB? 384 and 30GB? That sattelite thingy they made in E.T?

Would be most appreciative of any opinions, and more importantly, experiences.

Please and thank you.

I reckon go for the 384 rather, its only 10k slower (I get 40k on mine) with a 10gig account. Just upgrade it if you need to :)

Thanks for the reply dude.

What sort of pings do you get on the BF2 SGS servers? (I take it you are the Razer0 on the SGS BF2 servers? )

well 192 is perfect for gaming should get pings between 20-50

I was a bit worried about the 64kbps upload speed that comes with the homedsl192 package, but you guys seem to be happy... :)

Thanks so much for the replies people, I really appreciate your help.

Off to order Telkom and cancel iBurst...why do I feel like I am selling my soul to the devil? ;)

i was under the impression that the 192 did not have enough bandwidth for BF2

Naaa works fine for 192. The 64k upload story - mine could upload the same speed as I did download, maby they forgot to change the settings (that or they just too lazy).

Thing is I sometimes have a buddy that comes over to play and 20k down just doesnt cut it. So upgraded to 384, getting 40.8k down speeds and works like a charm. 25-30 pings to sgs
(I take it you are the Razer0 on the SGS BF2 servers? )
yep ;)

has anyone tried sharing the 192K connection for multiplayer gaming? I play games like Wolfenstein enemy territory, and UT 2004. Would it be possible to play with 2 players, over the 192K connection?

hauw :( read two posts up mate :/

It depends on the game really, if both need more than 10k at the same time then its not gonna work.

You are too kind sir - you've clearly never been in my chopper when my iBurst was playing up ;)

(ADSL192 ordered, looking at Webafrica 20gb. Thanks so much for all your help people. Very much appreciated.)
