Hi. What are the best data deals available at the moment? Thanks

Bump

Is it possible to get a bit of a list of options, a long with pro's and cons?
As far as I know, 8ta is an extremely limited area in which you can get the R199 for 10Gigs, etc. So if you go out of the JHB/Pretoria region, tough luck for you?

What else is good, reliable, and not going to require that I sell some organs to afford?

If you have 8ta coverage, then there R149.00 pre-paid is a good bet, or if you don't mind a contract, their 10Gig x 24month deal is best, but always, only if you have 8ta non-roaming coverage.

I have the 8ta 10Gb for R199 pm and it works very well ... have used it all over Port Elizabeth without incident yet. The CellC R1499 for 2Gb/month x 12 is the next best thing along with the 8ta R149 for 2Gb + 1Gb without a contract.

Not quite true. Deselect the "2G" option and only seach on "3G" - http://www.8ta.com/coverage/8tanetwork/

Any indication of how good 8ta's coverage in Cape Town is? This is a good ideal, if the service is reliable enough.

Thanks for that folks. I had the same question. I'm also in the PE area so your comment is helpful - thanks IanMac.

Yesterday's announcement from Telkom's CEO mentioned that the 10Gb/R199 offer would stop on 31st December. He said the offer was made to increase the traffic on their unutilised transmitters. Maybe this is why 8ta is so much better than everyone else - there are hardly any users on it compared with the other operators who have been going for several years.

I haven't been able to use it since I am outside the coverage area by 120 metres and they refused to sell me a SIM, even though I bought a 8ta prepaid SIM, had it made non-roaming and found (with an aerial) that the signal was excellent. However, to those behind the counter, rules is rules and they would not budge. Even went along to see the guys at Century City but no go. So I am in bed with CellC until October 2012 and hope that a) there is a decent offer from 8ta and b) they erect a tower that includes my house

My student son will be staying in Lovemore Park from next month.

Do you know if the 8ta works there ?

Yes, it does. There's a tower on Botha's Hill and others at Seaview and the Lovemore Heights Water Reservoir that covers the area.

What would be the best current deals (excluding 8ta)

MTN 2GB per month at R149 x 24 with included E367 modem but only if you can get it on TOPUP to avoid the OOB shark.

Cool, thanks. Anything with higher usage limits per month. Replacing a Cell C 5 GB deal that expired and the new ones out are quite a lot more

PM the Cell_C rep (alias Cell_C), apparently he may still have some 5 GB sims left at the old price.

Hi slightly off topic does anybody know if the Cell C buy R50 airtime and get 500mb data deal is still going?
