Hi guys

I am looking to buy two copies of Windows 10 Home. I have found it selling for R 999 at softwaredirect.co.za https://softwaredirect.co.za/collections/microsoft-windows/products/windows-10-home

I have never heard of this site before, do any of you have experience with it and would recommend it. Alternatively, do you have other suggestions where I might get a copy of windows 10 without paying in excess of R 2000 per licence?

The Microsoft Store? I think you get a licence code from them. Download the iso yourself and burn to disc. May be a little cheaper than a boxed package.

EDIT: Just noticed the Windows 10 Pro is on sale for R1499. Real Bargain. MS themselves have it for $200 on their store. Consider getting the pro?

I got my win 10 pro from them last week, and got my Win 10 pro within 5 minutes.
I upgraded from home to pro. Worked instantly!!!!
 
The best advice I can give is do not go for the Home version, get the pro version instead.

Yes this. Im also looking to upgrade my home to pro. Just bought a laptop and isn't it funny that for a laptop above R14k with an i7 processor HQ you'd expect pro installed.

Downright annoying.

I seem to remember back when Win 10 was in Beta we were assured that "Home" versions ended with Win 8 and there would only be two versions of Win 10, standard and media centre, going forward. That didn't last long.

More control over how the OS works.
You can for example relatively easily control how and when updates occur and what updates are done.
The Home version assumes that the user is prepared to simply accept what MS believes should be how you use the OS.
The other issue is more control over the data flow back to MS about you.
Better management of online services is another one.
Easier to setup and manage multiple network connections.
 
Yes and additionally, there is no 'upgrade' cost - For the guys already on Win10 Home who would like to upgrade.
You have to the purchase it as if you don't have win10 at all.
 
You don't need pro (except of course if you can get it for a comparable price).
Just install O&O Shutup for much of the extra functionality. If you have a simple home network you won't use the networking extras either.
 
@Mainpleb, what did you end up doing? Can you advise please?

@_kabal_ is that ebay thing legit?

I need keys for business purposes, so can't screw around.

You can use the Metered connection setting for updates on Windows 10 Home
 
Windows 10 Home non-activated literally works 99% bar some disabled features (e.g. theme customization (easily circumvented)).

Otherwise buy a Windows 10 OEM key on Kinguin (R300-450) and follow the steps to activate it offline.
