So what do you take that keeps you going on a rough day or maybe over a long haul? What do you reckon works?

Interestingly enough and on a side note coffee has never had much effect on me. At least not that I have ever noticeably felt for a long time. Granted I usually drink instant coffee, I don't know if that makes a difference. Guess I am immune to the stuff :) drink about 3-4 cups a day on average but have gone through periods where I stopped completely, didn't seem to make much difference either.

So no one recommends those McNabs tabs or Berocca or as such? Are those really considered energy supplements or are they more like multivitamins? Are they healthy? What about homeopathic energy supplements?

Oh if you are looking for the healthy option check out the Vitathion efferfescent tabs. They work well and they contain ATP, best form of natural energy available.

Google Adenosine Triphosphate. Its exactly what you want :)

Hmmmm... I do not think BioPlus nor RedBull have much of a lasting effect on me. Tast vile.

If it is a prolonged pulse of energy you need to vrooooooom you through... get something with ephedrine in... in the old days Thinz used to do the trick... took two in the morning and could function right through the night also. Just not long term tho'. Use for about a week and no more. Hard to get now days thanks to the tikheads.

Also, used to rely on Concerta (an ADDHD Ritalin substitute) in them wild years of old. Useful as it gives the energy I need AND the ability to focus on the task at hand almost exclusively. Also, very short term use... a few days at a time.

All prescription tho'... alas.

As for anything else... I dunno, coffee works for me still... that and apples... lots of water and frequent quick breaks... a walk around the garden etc.

Interesting thanks :)

I'm thinking both for work and play. If ever I have a deadline to meet or need to push through to meet a goal and need the boost while working longer hours for instance.

Also with Splashy Fen coming up lol, last year I had lots of those monster energy drinks they were giving out on promotion. Don't know if I am able to party like that anymore :/ :D

May not be the solution you want but, for sustained energy delivery: a peanut butter, banana and honey (or syrup) sarmie; it's a gift that just keeps giving.

Or you could but the PB (optional but it IS loaded with energy) and banana into a blender with an egg (or two) for company (oh, and milk and sugar to taste), do the necessary and sluk back. Again, it just keeps you going.

Energy drinks/Coke and the like are 'empty' energy: sure you spike on the sugar and caffeine but you are just setting yourself up for a monster crash later. Putting real food into your system will ultimately do you so much better for the long haul.

Also: the longer you stay up, the less efficient your body gets at burning the fuel you take in; compensate for this accordingly. ;)

Turbovite capsules work well, but after drinking it daily for a few days, I usually start to have trouble going to sleep.

Buffered vitamin C powder also works really well.

depends what it is? If its just a single night, jelly tots, bioplus sweets and coke. Thats what got me through varsity exams.

On a long project, I find exercise is key. A short run/swim/cycle gives me some relaxation, which gives my brain a break and allows me to perform better when I need to. It also gives me a bit more energy over longer periods.
