Best External HDD Brand

I'm planning to buy an external HDD in the coming weeks but I can't decide which brand should I choose.
Is there a brand that is cheaper compared to others?

My budget is below $150. Can I get a 1TB one in that price mark?:confused:
 
I dont know about overseas sites(I`m asuming thats what you meant with $150) but makro has got a good deal on a terrabyte western digital hdd for R999 and a western digital 1.5 terrabyte for R1250, wich in my opinion is better then the verbatim external hdd`s cause and I could be wrong they have Samsung:sick: HDD`s in them
 
Are you from South Africa? Wanting to buy overseas?

HDDs are cheap enough in SA. I would just go the cheap route and get the cheapest 5400/5900RPM HDD and cheapest external enclosure (Vantec Nexstar-CX). Total cost for a 1TB + Nexstar is about R1000.
 
i have the verbatim 1tb that Mas0ch1st mentioned above and have no problems with it the last two years i've had it.

it's on special at dion wired for R799 iirc ... i think game also has it on special (massmart shops usually keep their prices similar)

is that the one with the eSata port ?

they all pretty decently priced so you not gonna get a bad deal imho

i'm thinking about the 1.5tb for R999 but could use the money elsewere so i'm mulling it over :)
