Best free hit counter?

Just wondering if anyone can suggest a good free hit counter, there seems to be so many, it's kinda overwhelming..?

ah, nope - google is for detailed analytics / statistics about visitors. don't have any suggestions for a simple hit counter though. tried many, but haven't been overly happy any yet (either get spammed by the company, or it expires or something similiar). sure there is one out there.

Hit counters were all the rage in the 90's. You don't really see them on many pages these days.

One of our clients asked us to put a hit counter on their site and we refused Our company name is always on the bottom the sites we create.

Webalizer? Awstats? Can be made visible or invisible to the client, password protected if you wish.

another option which you can use on google analytics is you can schedule emails to be sent that have a very nice 8 page summary pdf attached of statistics from whatever range you specified, with pretty graphs and maps etc. can set it to send to the client on a certain date (end of the day, month etc). just an idea keeping with google analytics.
