Currently having issues with Telkom Uncapped on the gaming front.

Looking to get a capped product from another ISP to use for gaming.

Any suggestions?

Afrihost 1 GB free gets eaten up pretty quickly and works well however just checking if anything works better before buying.

Budget?

You can get so wicked capped data, but its gonna cost you a fortune. I'd suggest rather drop the TI.

Some type of IS preferably with low contention would be best imo, esp for local servers. Can't comment on intl gaming.

currently i get 4 meg uncapped from Telkom at R672 per month (total cost including all VAT and rentals), SO Im not gonna leave the Ti.

Can spend between R100 and R150 for decent gaming connection. However I think 3-5 GB capped will be more than enough for my gaming needs.

Dunno if getting another uncapped account gonna be much use if it gets shaped. Only plan to use 2nd account for gaming.

Heard good about mweb so trying to see if I can get a trial account to test or even and open web trial account.

NB the second account not gonna be for downloading just gaming. Uncapped would be great however I think capped would give best contention and latency unless Im mistaken.

got an MWEB trial man this is awesome found games very easily.

Will see if can get openweb trial account to test for gaming.

OW > Mweb.

Unshaped weekends and afterhours across all packages? No monitoring of your monthly usage? No punishing you for using an uncapped service like you pay to do so?

If you answered yes to any one or more of these questions, then OW is for you.

PM MrBeep on here mybb. He'll set you up in no time. Ask for a gamer's king account.

Thread necro, Just didnt want to open a new Thread if 1 already exists...

Can anybody maybe drop suggestions on what the best ISP (at the moment) is for Xbox (one) live gaming?

Currently have a 4 Meg (Uncapped) line with Telkom as well as a VOX Telecom (1Tb Samsung promo) and seem to get LAG constantly with both accounts almost all the time.

So im looking at trying out Open Web or Web Africa just to test and if all is perfect, will then get capped accounts to for gaming.

(Also - on average, just gaming, what would be a sufficient cap monthly considering about 60+- hours of gaming a month)

I game daily on Xbox One, and Webafrica is by far the best. I haven't tried them all, but this is my experience so far:

Webafrica (best. almost never have an issue)
VOX (average. up and down performance)
Afrihost (worst. major network instability issues on Xbox LIVE)

Cap wise it's hard to say. I've been using a prepaid Webafrica account since it's become unplayable with Afrihost for the last 2 months, and I used around 7GB last month. If you don't download patches/updates, and only use it for gaming, you actually don't use that much. But if you forget to change accounts, or have auto-update, you'll quickly use up your cap.

Yeah i was considering WebAfrica, will have to check the packages out when i get home... Site seems to be blocked at work.

Thanks for the quick response.

I'm using the Incredible Uncapped account. Pings are brilliant and I can get in all my Xbox updates, downloads, patches, etc as long as it's after 5pm and on weekends.

We use both Vox and Afrihost with very little issue.
I have to shape my son's connection though or his Xbox just gulps all the bandwidth.

Yep I will give pretty much the same advice as 2 years ago.

IS based capped accounts are the way to go. Fast low latency unshaped access..... Nothing beats it.

Here are some service providers:
Webafrica
Openweb
Connection
ITNT
