Best Graphics Card for R500?

Howdy,

Asking for a mate, who has R500 to spend. Now he was eyeing a 8500gt on gumtree, so I offered to help find out for him.
What do yall reckon the best second hand card is that he could get?

hm i saw a 4830 going for r600 yesterday on Prophecy. 8500gt isn't worth r500 imo. 7950, 8800gts320mb, 4670, 8600gts, 9500gt, 3850 it would be a fair price.

I would just recommend he saves a bit more and get a 4670. They're like R800. You could also get a brand new ATI 3870 for R800.

Otherwise try for a 8800GT.

Well he wants it to play Far Cry 1, ..n perhaps some other older games of that quality..

I would go with a ATI 4550 or 4350 then.

I'm sure he'd love to play newer games, but I'm just reckoning with a R500 gpu and a E2140 OC'd a bit, it's the only type of thing that's going to run well. Older games, that is..

Check prophecy forums, should get an 8800 for R600 (rather spend the extra then sitting with an 8600 imo)
