I am currently using 2-3 gig per month via Mweb's 3 gig pm package using my Telkom ADSL line.

The Telkom line is notoriously slow, fluctuating between 2 and 25 kbps.

What alternative options do I have?

Web Africa rocks, but then you need to consider your line speed which is probably your issue, anyway.

Get yourself the WebAfrica 3GB trial account (for free) and see if your download speeds remain the same.

If they do indeed stay the same, which I think it would, then you'll have to go through the thread where all the congested exchanges are listed, because you might be going through one that is congested!

What speed does your ADSL sync at?

If you have physical line issues then changing ISPs will not help.

Get Telkom to sort out your line. Tell them you have a crackle on your VOICE line and you want it fixed. Do not mention ADSL until the techie gets there!

If it is your line(and it sounds like it but test other ISP's on the line to be sure) you'll need to switch over to one of the wireless options. You have a choice of Vodacom, MTN, Cell C, Et-a, Iburst or a couple of the Wi-max providers. From what you say about just needing a few gigs I would look at the Cell C or Et-a for the cheap prices.
