Best Hosting for a Buddy Press Social Network

I have created a social network with BuddyPress,

I need the social network to cater to one or two thousand simultaneous users without being slow.

Will Afrihost's Cloud hosting platinum package be sufficient?

You will be running php, mysql and wordpress. The vCPU is enough but the ram will be too little. Just a wordpress site with 5000 users, a server with 4-8GB ram will easily handled it. Why because; queries are cache, site caching, a lot of caching, very little DB interaction. On the social network site, its opposite, the interaction requires more reads from Db. 2000 users I will recommend a minimum of 16Gb and 8vCPU at least for a responsive site.
Silver Pro should work well. Remember you can always upgrade or downgrade, can start small and upgrade to see if meet requirement, from a budget point of view, calculate as R1.5 per active user.

I did a similar project with wordpress + course plugin. Required 3000 students at a given time(covid time). I had to do a server migration of that project, the site could barely handle 500 users. Hosted locally on a dedicated server. Server had 32GB ram + 16 core dedicated CPU. The old IT support then added 2 dedicated servers and problem was worst. (Separated MySQL and Web). A friend requested my help that was part of the school.

My solution was load balancer with 3 MySQL servers($20 per month each) and 10 VPS servers($10 per month each) with load balancer($12). Scale down to 2 MySQL server($15 per month each) + 2 VPS server($10 per month each) when no load. Cost factor was a cut of R100k maintenance per month + R4000 per month for the school since the school IT teacher could easily manage it. Could scale to 20k+ users easily with not much admin while offering redundancy, backup and security.
