i use outlook 2007 but it's imap support i find really sucks...it's slow. thunderbird is better but i don't like the interface. does anybody know of any other clients that are better?

Thunderbird :)

To be honest with you, if this is how it starts off, you won't like any email client. 1 would have this feature, another would have that feature. You need to decide exactly what you want, and use the client that works the best with it. All email clients can handle IMAP connections, Outlook, Outlook Express, Evolution, Gmail, Horde (webmail based, nice for roaming), Eudora, etc etc.

Office 2007 is slow for all email architectures, 2007 sucks.

i like the way 2007 handles the mail it's just all the extra junk in it, it would be awesome if there was a mail client with just the mail handling functionality of 2007 without the extra baggage

I used Thunderbird with gmail IMAP until I tried to send and receive PDF attachments which got mangled. So now I'm using Mulberry [http://www.mulberrymail.com] - not the prettiest, but it works, has lots of features (incl. calendar) and worth a try.
