Last time I checked the best interest rate for a one-year fixed investment was with TymeBank @ 7% or 8% IIRC.

Anything matching that, or better?

Lock-in period is too long.

If you want a decent interest rate without having to lock up your funds, I suggest looking at an income fund.

Forget earning interest. Stick your savings in an offshore account and protect your capital against the devaluation of the rand.
What about the devaluation of foreign currencies? Pretty sure ZAR is not the only one!

check fees, check advisor commissions, check penalties & disadvantages for breaking the ring fence on other Discovery products, and most importantly take into account what you have to pay for all these integrators, boosters and vitalities etc too.

5 Years in a long time to commit in today's world

You say that but remember that USD also has fluctuations. For example, if you invested in USD 2 years ago, your return will be negative as of now
