16Gb suits my needs if you interested how - with iCloud photo working like a dream now photo library consumes way less space, and I stream my music through Rdio, however podcasts using Pocketcasts does consume space...

16GB shouldn't even exist in 2015. HD video recordings and apps can easily surpass that capacity, never mind the fact that iPhone users probably also have iTunes playlists to sync. And you have to consider how much free space is required to update the firmware.
