Best ISP at the moment?

Vox has gone to **** for gaming, so don't pick it if you do any of that, ping is all over the place after 6.

I'm looking to change my ISP at the end of the month.

Trouble is there are so many choices! Vox, Crystal Web or Web Africa? Capped or Uncapped?

I use around 150Gb to 200Gb of data a month on my 4Mbps line. It's mostly used for streaming Netflix and Hulu. Any P2P downloads are scheduled for between midnight and 6am.

Can anyone recommend which ISP I should go with and should I go capped or uncapped? My budget is around R450 per month.

Thanks for any advice. :)

Ill assume that this takes place during normal hours so forget night surfer options or limited day/uncapped at night options. Go with a 200GB capped account.

Id say the Vox 300gb Special at R485 which carries your unused data over. might be out of your budget.

Does this R450 a month include:

1. Telkom analogue voice line rental and calls;
2. Telkom ADSL line rental for 4mbps libe at R299 per month
3. ADSL data: capped or uncapped?

Reason ask is that I am also interested in this, and have similar budget.

Example of monthly total cost:

1. Voice rental: R....
2. ADSL line rental for 4mbps:..... and for 10mbps:.....
3. Data with Vox 25GB capped fatpipe lite: ....... ( is R89 till end of August 2015) and after-hours uncapped bolt-on: R59
4. TOTAL monthly cost: ......

They are increasing the price next month?

I'm happy on Afrihost's Afrigreen network, but if I were to move I'd go with Crystal Web or Web Africa.

Yea, Afrigreen runs on neotel... You'll see problems soon enough i'm quite sure.

I thought it ran on IS?

Nope, Neotel.

Afrihost left IS to go to MTN. Afrihost wouldn't go back to IS, purely because of price, Afrihost cannot afford IS pricing, they need cheap.

Interesting. Well I suppose I don't care where they get the bandwidth from as long as my connection works. I've been on Afrihost business for years now and it's been amazing 99% of the time. Truly unshaped 24/7. Hopefully the new network will treat business users well.

Indeed that is the main thing, as long as your internet works and you are happy :)

Crystal Web uncapped premium is R429 so that's the best so far. I am on 193gb for the month and I'm quite happy.

Thanks everyone for all the replies to my original question! :)

I've read plenty of good reports on Crystal Web so I'm going to sign up for their uncapped premium account.

For how long? Last year Afrihost were the flavour of the month. The year before it was Openweb...

And we all know what happened to them.
I think the beauty of leaving afrihost is the fact that many of us had/have some misplaced loyalty toward them. So, now that we've switched once, switching again will be easy.

So, for now Vox seems to be the best, at least for those of us who grabbed the special, but if they go downhill we jump onto the next best thing.

Yes I agree vox is the best if you grabbed the promo, otherwise they too expensive per GB.
