Hi there.

I'm looking for the best isp for gaming and some downloading. We do about +-200 - 300GB per month. I'm just getting annoyed cause some of my gaming services like origin, etc doesn't work 100% with my current ISP and some nights I do get high latency. I'm based in Pretoria. My current line is 8mbps. So what can people suggest me that's month to month?

Any more info that you need please feel free to ask me.

If there is any ISP willing to give me a test account please do and I will test it first

I'm with MWEB currently. I'm just sick and tired arguing with them trying to sort out small issues. If it's not high latency it's certain services not working. Like i said I tried another isp and it works 100%

Who you with at the moment? Get a 1Gb trial account to make sure your line/exchange are not the problem. Axxess, Crystal Web, Web Africa, Afrihost are a few I'm aware of that offer a trial account.

Crystal Web hands down... get a trial account from them and then you can try it out... i have the 10mb uncapped premium account with them for a few years now, for gaming and streaming you wont go wrong....

Like I said already tested with another isp test account and everything works with that account but with my current MWEB ISP it doesn't work.

What do you guys think of getting Axxess capped accounts and just let my downloads go from midnight to 6AM.

I have axxess 300gig account on a 10mb/s line for about one and a half years. I get 500-700gigs a month and have yet to be shaped. Best decision I have ever made gaming, torrents and streaming are perfect.

Give them a try and if you not happy cancel before the end of the month and go with someone else.

I'm also with Axxess capped at the moment works perfect for gaming, downloads run after hours but with the rollover and double data I have more than enough data meet my needs during the day now as well.

Nice to know. I can always make my downloads go at night

I'm sorry to say. I've been with MWEB ever since the "Free the web" thing and being loyal to them but lately I've been struggling with support. They keep escalating it. Let me tell you a story. So I had issues with ORIGIN friends list and some online services. Then I contacted them late February. They Logged it for me saying they will call me back on 1st of march. I think it was almost a scam trying to hold me on a leash so I have to stay for another month.

The issue is when I use Telkom or Axxess Test account everything works. My latency feel even a bit lower. Hard to explain as my ping is not physically lower when doing a speedtest but in certain online games it's a bit lower. Now the thing is they keep telling me it's not a problem on their network but why then when I use another IS like Telkom or Axxess it works all the time. I get the friend list issue then switch to Telkom or Axxess and it works go back to MWEB it doesn't work so I don't know why MWEB can't see it's my issue.

The thing is I can be unreasonable and I have the right to as if you don't sort out the issue why must I stay with MWEB then. I go with whomever I please but MWEB knows that I have to stay for another month anyway so they will try to get it solved at least before end April so I might stay. Sad to say just by doing that alone is already a reason to move on to another ISP. I feel like MWEB is not treating their customers with the utmost importance. The only way they can redeem me as a customer is if they solve this issue Today. The other ISP's do give me outstanding value if you look at the network performance vs price you pay. After this hassel having to swear over the phone to get assisted correctly I'm not willing to stay a MWEB customer.

Sorry for going on about the same thing but I'm just highly pissed

Mweb spikes during peak hours sometimes too... I'm going to jump ship to crystalweb or vox at the end of the month, not really sure why it spikes but yeah. 3/5 of us in our csgo team have mweb and we all spike at the same time.

We have had this a few times, trying to sort it out with them this evening.

If you're in fibre coverage, definitely go for it. It's worth the extra few bucks. Adsl has become very choppy for gaming. Even with the best of speeds your ping will be higher and upload speed sucks, which matters most. I can't game any longer with a 20mb adsl line and a ping of 30ms to local servers. Wish you the best of luck

Yes I know. We have Fibre at work. Neotel 5mb/5mb business service and i can say for gaming the latency is just much better. My brother has Telkom 10mb down 5mb up Telkom fibre service and it's good. I'm stuck with ADSL for now but Telkom started with the trenching here so hopefully fibre will eventually come to my area.

There is fibre laid down a few hundred meters from my house, but can't get fibre as there's no last-mile provider:( Let's wait and see...
