I saw a post from 5 to 6 years ago that touched on this but wanted to revive the topic in 2024, to gauge what other people's experiences are.

Am currently in an Octotel FNO residential area, and I defaulted to Vox purely based on experience from work which uses Vox. However, when viewing other ISPs available via Octotel, there are better prices for similar line speeds.

However, am well aware that price alone does not guarantee a good overall customer experience for the money being spent./ So customer service (as in being able to get hold of an actual human via phone or other communication), and technical support being able to avail themselves and come out when the need arises. And generally, having regular communication when there are issues is vital.

Reviews are always a way to go, but it's very touch and go, as all ISPs have someone who's unfortunately had a bad experience with them.

What are people's experiences with other ISPs other than the one listed above?

@Atomic Access , If potential customers want to join with you guys, how would you answer this question?
Based on your data on hand, who is giving YOU more problems (And indirectly, us end-users)? Octotel, or Frogfoot? And can you provide stats to back this up?
I'm considering moving , but would prefer honest answers from the ISP's.

Quick question, Why does Atomic Access only cater for the greater CPT area? I am sure that if they a registered partner with an FNO, then should be able to use them where ever in the country?

Hi, we have stats here: https://status.atomicaccess.co.za

We prefer Octotel.

Mostly because of the way ICASA regional ECS licences work.

Hi, the fibre network sets the line speeds. Which fibre network has line speeds which suit you?

@Atomic Access , any chance you can see if you guys, or customers are complaining right now, about high latency and poor line speeds on Frogfoot Networks, in Parklands, Sunningdale area please? (From 15:00 onwards)..

If you ARE? Where is the issue? Is it Frogfoot's network thats causing the probelm?

I'm trying to confirm if the poor speed is Frogfoot or Coolideas? Need to find a plan B ASAP.

Hi, we currently have an open ticket which matches the problem you describe. We've been working with a customer to collect Pingplotter test results. Problem is intermittent, but we have one screenshot so far showing extra latency on the line. Current best guess: congestion on the metro / backhaul network.

three times this week, my Frogfoot line has gone for a ball.. Latency is 170's, and 15 Mb's on a 120 line. I'm just sick of it.
is Octotel any better, or are they all torn from the same cloth at the end of the day..

Question re: installation.
I know Octotel recently layed their fibre in boxes on our pavement. I am currently conduited into my house with Frogfoot. I'd like to order an additional service with oyou\Octotel, and I'm like them to float the fibre in the same conduit, without damaging my existing line. Are these guys able to do this?

I'm wanting your\Octotel's line up and running, and THEN, I'll terminate my Frogfoot line and coolideas account. Can they do this guaranteed?

(My work demand has 3 different ISP's in the same conduit with no issues, but I'd like some confirmation please?)

And, how long would it take to install?

Hi

Let me find out.

If the fibre network responds saying they need to install their own new conduit, are you still interested?

Hi

It would be up to the fibre network install team. If the conduit is in a good state and big enough and there’s a draw string they can probably do it for you.

There will still be a risk of something going wrong, no way around that.

If you want to go ahead, we can do our best to brief the install team about your plan, but you'll have to work with them to do the install as it best suits you.

Please order on our website and add a note about the special installation instructions.

ps. our Ops team is aware of your order.

No way. Not going to have my driveway\home plastered with multiple conduits thanks..
