Hi All

I'm getting my ADSL line installed this week after having been with Iburst for the last 2 years. I'm changing mainly to improve latencies for online gaming (Guild Wars in particular), as a ping of 500 is just not cutting it for me.

Please could I have some advice as to the best ISP/package for the lowest possible latencies for international online gaming. Many thanks.

No offence meant, but 500 actually isn't that bad when it comes to international gaming... in fact, thats pretty good. I used to play a lot of WOW with latencies ranging from 500 - 900, and while its not the best, its still playable.

To answer your question though, from my experiences, the lower latency options are your unshaped SAIX accounts.

No offence taken ;)

Hacks me off that all my guild are playing with pings ranging from 35 to 130, and here's jolly old me with anything from 450-750. Makes being half decent very difficult.

Thanks for the reply though, guess I'll go for the unshaped accounts - any idea whether the Verizon or Telkom is better?

You can get better than 500.

You'll want unshaped SAIX or Verizon.

You can buy prepaid SAIX unshaped from Webafrica, which is quite nice. R125 per gig.

I've tested unshaped SAIX - Iburst is better, SAIX goes up and down like the Rand/Doller exchange rate.

Verizone is the only way to go ...

I definitely think Verizon is better. Did a whole bunch of test a few months back and they performed very well. Don't have the figures with me but I seem to recall sub 200ms pings to all the international locations I tested.

The WA unshaped accounts are multi realm now. Just add ".v" to your username and you'll get routed through Verizon :D

Using WA prepaid unshaped to a Lineage server in Greece, can't say I find much of a difference between Verizon and SAIX though. On each of them I get a ping of aroud 250 to 270, which is very playable.

Thanks guys, Vanilla have said that I can test both SAIX adn Verizon so will do so before deciding.
