Looking at a replacement keyboard from the standard android keyboard. Currently using touchpal. Any other good ones that I can use?

SwiftKey

Best money I've spent in the Play Store so far.

It even does Swype in Afrikaans!

I've tried Swiftkey many times. And I still go back to the Google Keyboard.

SwiftKey irks me - I've only used it because I paid for it yonks ago.

How sure are you that you're using a standard android keyboard? You sure it's not one of those ones slapped on by the manufacturer (Like the dreaded Samsung Keyboard)?

Don't listen to the naysayer. SwiftKey is awesome!

I seriously need a decent keyboard too. I have tried all the free versions and didn't like any of them. I am not sure if its better to type in portrait mode ornlandscape another keypad is bigger. I hate it when words or letters come up as predictive text when those words are not in the English language nevermind sign language.

It says under input Android keyboard (AOSP) so I assume that is the default keyboard. I have an S4 as well, the keyboard replacement is for the Gobii smartphone, I don't like the keyboard as the keys are too small on the 4 inch screen.

Also +1 for Swiftkey. That said, I've been surprised by how well the stock Android keyboard works now.

See here for a reasonably robust conversation about this (as opposed to all the herd-like bleating that's going on here) :p. I'll concede that things may have changed/improved since then; for instance Swype now has Afrikaans, which kills what was once SwiftKey's major win, and then there's Minuum, not to mention the wonderfully outré 8pen. And yes, SK can still suck it.

I used to use Swiftkey but I found Fleksy a couple months ago and it's more suited to my needs. Fleksy has a free trial period, it takes a couple days to get used to but it's worth it and I've found it to be my favourite so far.

I initially used the Google keyboard - was extremely happy with it (On Xperia Z and Note 2)... When I got the P6, it was laggy with both the original keyboard (older version of the Google KB) and the updated one didn't make a huge difference.
That's when I moved to Swiftkey - Really good and I like the customisation options. Lag was also much less - that has to to with the phone IMO...
Now, with the LG G2, I set up the original LG keyboard to my liking (auto-correct, swipe, etc.) and I couldn't be happier - Honestly better than anything I've used. Still using Swiftkey on my Nexus 7 though.
