Ubuntu, Yellowdog, others?

Which is easiest to install and which works best?

Just install Yellow Dog. Its the best you gonna get on the PS3.
I tried Ubuntu and it was really slow to install and did not perform as well as YD.

Cool, I'm downloading YD so we'll see how it works out! :)

Which version of yellow dog did you install? ver 5 or v6

Did they fix the memory issue? Before it only used 256 MB of ram or something like that.

Also in v5 you have to install the wireless manually, did they make it easier in v6?

Ask yourself this first. Can you run PC games on Linux?
The short answer is No. The long answer Yes , but...if you.... I'm not interested in.

Is the linux in question able to access Wireless Lan/Lan port on the PS3?

zeb, You can run "PC" games on Linux, if its made for Linux ;) Windows != PC
You can try install windows98 if you like :p http://www.yellowdog-board.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2408

SlyFly, you can run Linux games on PS3 but not the heavy stuff, like Q3 won't perform to owell as it needs access to hardware accelerated graphics. The PS3 do not allow Linux access to the GPU.
Here's some more info on Linux games & the PS3 http://www.yellowdog-board.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2082

@udiS3, Yes. I can access my emails, browse, etc. (Sunno bout the wireless LAN, I'm using the 1Gbit port to connect to my roeter)

I havent installed linux and the its cohorts on my ps3...from what I read it seems a bit too gimmicky at this stage. I find that the xmb suits my media needs right now. But if something really substantial comes of it, i'll probably be the first to install lol
