Best Mobile Password Manager Excluding LastPass

So Lastpass is great, use it on Desktop/Laptop, that's where I really need it; I'm not paying R180 a year for the convenience of lastpass syncing my passwords to my Android devices because I just don't need it that much.

But I would like to have them there, I used to export an encrypted pdf password list to manually look for the passwords on the device if I needed them, just open the pdf/unlock/search, I want to use an app though because using a pdf is a bit clunky.

The app needs to be able to import the password data from a Lastpass export.

So far the best options are SafeInCloud(bonus is it has a desktop app with browser integration as well, can be used to manage the passwords and as a backup for Lastpass) R99 once off, has an app for virtually any OS platform and will sync via your Dropbox or Google Drive etc. Tested it and it imports data from Lastpas just about perfectly

Other one is aWallet R30 no cloud sync but you can import the CSV file of all LastPasses passwords, good reviews as well or R55 with cloudsync to dropbox etc but no desktop support and only android.

Any other good ones available, I'm leaning towards SafeInCloud?

$12 is actually closer to R190 now. :erm:

I'll probably still renew my LastPass when it's about to expire, but if you report great success with this Safe-in-Cloud thing or a similar service then perhaps I'll move over.

It's a shame that 1Password is so bloody expensive. $50 for the Windows app and another $10 for the Android app. Heck no.

I use KeePass to store my passwords on pc & flash drive. On Anroid I use KeePassDroid - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.keepass

They have import/export for LastPass - http://keepass.info/help/base/importexport.html

Free and good ratings but very basic, SafeInCloud's autofill works very well and can sync.

I had never heard of SafeInCloud or AWallet until I was googling about Lastpass, found out both of them in comments on articles on Lastpass, which is why I started this thread, may be some more gems out there.

Does Keepass have autofill? The feature list on their website isn't clear.

On PC you can Ctrl+V and it will fill in username and password of the window you last had open, works a charm: http://keepass.info/help/base/autotype.html

Best of all, it's free.

For synchronization I use MyDrive.ch

  • Register an account with MyDrive.
  • Create a database with KeePass.
  • Upload your database to MyDrive. Let's say you have uploaded it as personal.kdbx.
  • In KeePass, open URL https://webdav.mydrive.ch/personal.kdbx. From now on, whenever you save, your file on MyDrive will be updated.

Thats pretty rudimentary autofill and it looks like each password/login needs to be "programmed" how to autofill the webpage considering what the link you gave seems to imply?

No programming is necessary. I just click on the username field, go to KeePass and Ctrl+V.
If you like there are browser plugins for automatic filling in of the fields: http://keepass.info/plugins.html

I've used SafeInCloud for a while now. It operates well and the feature of syncing automatically between desktop and mobile device is invaluable. App has been updated regularly up to this point and I'm happy to have spent the money.

Keepass has come quite a long way since I last looked, seems to be up there with the best of them in terms of functionality these days. Obviously it's still a bit diy so a bit daunting to some but if you know a bit about computers you can make it work relatively easily. Open source and free, will keep it in mind.

https://get.google.com/smartlock/

Smart Lock for Passwords helps you unlock sites or apps by offering to save passwords with your Google Account. When you save a password in Chrome, an integrated Android app can let you right in. And when you save your password in an app on Android, you can get right into the same service in Chrome or on other Android devices. We promise you won’t miss that frustrating “Forgot password” routine.
Then if you use Chrome enable this flag chrome://flags/#enable-password-generation
