I'm looking for a SIM-only contract, month-to-month. It will be used for work purposes for about 98% data-only needs, but it's being used in a cellphone so it needs other capabilities too.

Main requirement other than above is good signal, minimum hassles in taking it out and cancelling if needed.

I guess the data amount needs to be around 15GB or more, and it must not automatically use anything. I want to pay a monthly fee and that's ALL I pay, no charges for extra GB, although if it can be topped up manually that could work.

Any recommendations?

I know your reply was a couple of months ago, but I don't get what the big deal is about Afrihost. They would charge R767/month for 15GB!?

Those are our mobile data packages.

We have more affordable Fixed LTE offerings from MTN and Telkom here.

Thanks for replying.
How well would the Fixed LTE work in a mobile phone?
How well would it work if the phone isn't an LTE phone?

MTN Fixed LTE is device and location locked. Those will not work in a phone.
Telkom LTE is not locked to a device or phone but only works on Telkom coverage areas.

If you want affordable prepaid data you might want to look at Airmobile MTN data. https://www.afrihost.com/airmobile/prepaid#/ You get 1GB free for the first 3 month after that you need to topup with at least 1GB to get another gig free. The 1GB is R69.

That means if you topup with 1GB for R69 each month you get 2GB which will cost you R34.50 per gig. If you combine this with MTN data specials and voice specials from the MTN app you could save even more.

5GB for R297 is not affordable. Even if you throw in 1GB free. To say nothing of the 15GB the OP is looking for.

Avoid Cell C. They are going from bad to worse, in my experience.
