Best office app

iWorks for iOS is good. QuickOffice is also great. But it isn't MS office. There is limits and some formatting issues with all of them.

I have used a few of those (rather, some of them are still installed on my iPad - Pages; Smart Office 2; CloudOn) - and they all work to the extent that I need them to. Word Processing is pretty efficient on an iPad, as would Presentations be (Keynote is excellent) - but you might feel stymied in creating feature-rich Excel spreadsheets and the like... That's not to say that some don't do it - pretty sure many do - but I've only ever really used them to view Office-type files, when I am in meetings etc...

So I guess it will largely depend on what you need them for. I cannot ever see my iPad replacing my laptop across the board (in certain aspects of my daily life, it certainly could - but not in many of the key areas), and so wouldn't really consider Office-type apps in that light. If you are considering making the switch completely - then do your research. I do know there are many, many blogs by users going through the very same process over the years - they are really helpful in clarifying any queries...

BTW - I never installed Numbers/Keynote, purely because they are hardly ever(?) on sale. I bought Pages, since at the time I figured I would use it the most - turns out most of the other apps I purchased for other purposes, do a fine job of reading Word docs, and I hardly ever need to edit them on my iPad. All my productivity apps have been downloaded when they were on Free "promotion", if you are patient, you can get awesome stuff without paying a cent...

The one nice thing about Pages, Numbers, Keynote is that you can also edit your documents via iCloud web interface (this is a new feature BTW). Changes made in iCloud are synced back to the device and vice versa.

Thanks. Will go for iWorks and agree that ipad won't fully replace MS office

I see numbers, keynote and pages are available as free download if you buy the iPhone 5s

Finally, 1st Microsoft release Microsoft Office on phones for free, now this. Lets hope Google follows suite and release QuickOffice for free. <-- one can only hope.

As for iPad, I find Number, Pages and so the best. If you can not fork out the cash for it, use Kingsoft till one of the others go on sale. King is not exactly the best but its gets the job done.

You can download Quickoffice for free if you have a Google Business for Apps account. It works really well and syncs all your documents across different devices, been using it for a while already.

I know, thats the same as Office 365 if you subscribe, I was referring to free Office apps regardless of subs ie: Office 365 on Windows Phone and Apple's "Office" on iPhone 5S as mentioned above.
