Best online backup service for privacy?

Hey folks,

Any suggestions for a cloud backup service that actually protects your data? Something with really strong encryption?

I also need to be able to backup multiple devices and the services I've looked at charge per device after a certain point.

Oh, did I mention I don't have a lot of money? :wtf:

Wuala encrypts client side. I'm not crazy that it uses Java but other than that it works pretty well. They're also Swiss.

Wuala looks solid. It looks like they use private key, too, which is supposed to be super secure.

I need something cheaper if possible.

Depends - what OS are you backup up from? I use gpg to encrypt data with an almighty long key and send it to dropbox using a bash script.

Look at AWS Glacier . Not free but cheap and everything is encrypted. Also look at Crashplan . Will cost about R600 per year, cheap for some not for other . Also uses encryption and your archives are all stored in encrypted format.

So I ended up going with IDrive online backup. They offer backup for an unlimited number of devices. And they have 256-bit AES encryption with a private key option, so the key to my data is stored only on my server. What convinced me ultimately was the price. I'm liking the application so far.
