My kids tend to stress the cell phones with playing games etc. So I am considering getting a tablet(7 inch) for this and to occupy them on trips esp. my 8 year old son.
What is the best option (No ICrap, too expensive). My options at Esquire are:
Acer Iconia A1 8'' tablet PC @ R2599 (wifi, 3g, res 1024x768, ram 1GB, storage 16GB, BT, camera front & back, Cortex-A9 1.2GHz, USB, HDMI, Droid 4.2)

Google Nexus 7 R2599
Samsung Galaxy tab 3 7.0 SM-T211 R2199

There's also the Lenovo A1000 for R1299.

Price is important as I predict this gadget will be obsolete in 10 months, so do not want to spend too much

The Nexus is the best one, but most expensive. Tablets can also be fragile, and if the screen breaks then it's 2k for a new screen (found that out to my sorrow). Since it's for your kids, I would suggest going for something like the Lenovo, or perhaps go really cheap and cheerful for R899.

I got the Lenovo a3000 from Telkom for R99 per month.

500 MB data, 3G and WiFi.
Dual SIM (one 3g the other 2g)
Memory card slot
Has a mic, but can't make phone calls. Can send and receive SMS.

Really enjoying mine.

I'm looking for the A1000, where did you find it in stock at that price?

I'd get the nexus, its processor is awesome.

I also think its the best budget built tablet money can buy. (The build quality is excellent)

Also favour the nexus. Last time I used a tablet was Ipad2. Never could see why I would use it for work. laptop is still fav. What I liked about the tablet then was quick startup for browsing and email etc

It's TableT with a T on both ends.

Surely you can't simply read past that on every advertisement you see?

Thanks. Some of us are busy with 5 things at the same time. Kinda difficult to proofread everything.
