well I dont know if there is that much difference between the 50ppm fuels. I regularly use BP ultimate 50 diesel, but I've had many people swear blind that Sasol ULS 50ppm diesel is the business. Shell maybe be slightly more expensive too. I've tried most 50ppm diesel, always been happy with BP or Shell though. diesel price isnt regulated at the pump, so you may find some stations selling 50ppm diesel cheaper than others, shop around and try a few tanks of whats on offer then decide which one give you the best consumption and performance.

Did you get the cupra?

I've tried shell and sasol. Can't say I've really noticed much of a difference but I don't race or anything so only using the "bum dyno".

Yeah picked her up on Saturday :) very happy with her, slowly getting the feel for driving diesel.

Ta for the advice JP. I'll try a few different ones and see if there is any difference

/revives old thread....

So, 5yrs down the line... Has the diesel quality changed much over the years?
Is SASOL still the best wrt diesel?

Nice (relevant) necro.

I'm no expert on fuel but I see plenty more signs in the Cape of 50ppm diesel..that's good at least

Though finding Sasol here is not too easy.

I've also seen quite a few up here as well. Just not sure if Caltex 50ppm is similar or better than BP 50ppm, for example.

I've tried comparing all types with my car to measure performance and fuel economy.
Found Engen to be best for me.

I get the most decent economy and performance from Engen followed by Catex.
I've noticed Caltex costs less but then I get less KMs off a tank.

BP was good when I used petrol. Don't like their diesel...

I have found the best economy when using Sasol 10ppm diesel, followed by Shell 50ppm. I never use anything else besides these two, so not sure about performance.

I find that since I moved to Sasol 10ppm diesel, the oil seems cleaner. Also I might add, i only noticed a difference about 2 months after the fact. I have also used Engen, Shell and Caltex, never noticed a difference between them.

I don't think 10 is worth the cost, and there are trade offs for using lower sulfer diesel, lack of lubrication being one of them - although you can expect newer engines to have factored that in.

Engen, Shell and Caltex 50 all work equally well in my car, whereas BP is noticeably worse all round.

The Sasol 10ppm is cheaper than any 50ppm in my area.

That's interesting, but saying that, I don't see a lot of Sasol garages so I don't see the prices that often. Caltex is usually the cheapest for 50, Engen 2nd and then Shell.
