I am looking for a pet insurance that pays out more than just 50% of claim amount. My dog needs an operation to have his anal gland removed at a cost of R10 000 but have googled a couple of insurers but seems the will only cover half the cost of the surgery.
Can one find a company that pays out better than 50% of a claim?

There was a thread the other day. Medipet was suggested. However your dog is already sick so not sure if you gonna find someone that will cover it. Maybe ask Pitbull which vet he goes too. :p

Dotsure.

Not sure what the exclusions are since the dog has already been diagnosed. And it works on a claim back option, so you pay and claim it back.

The dog is fine now been treated with antibiotics but i am just making enquiries just in case because vet said that if the problem recurs again the only thing is surgery to have the gland removed.
So just making enquiries should i have to go that route.

Medipet or Generic(Vetsown), no limit, also the dog is already sick so doubt they will cover the operation.

If you can't get covered, Tygerberg Animal Hospital let's you pay 50% of the operation up front, and the remaining 50% over the following 2 months.

the dog is fine now after treatment but making enquiries if this should happen again as i explained above.
I googled these insurers you mentioned but according to what i can see the only cover operations for a maximum of R 5000 so cant see how it is worth ones while to take out such cover, would be fine for Vaccination and de worming but not for surgery.

It's says they cover up to R35 000 per year for illnesses and emergencies with no limits how many times you can visit the vet - https://medipetsa.co.za/faq-2/

Medipet have a R35000 per year limit, with no sub limits..

BUT what you are dealing with is a pre-existing condition, so no insurers will cover it...

It's still a pre-existing condition and likely excluded
