Ok im looking at upgrading my line from 1 mbs

Currently on 1mbs afrihost incl line rental at R297

Options are

Afrihost - R497
Mweb - R449 (Throttling may apply)
Telkom R606 (Shaped service) incl normal line rental

Which would be the best for linux distros sometimes upto 150gb and watching tv streaming ex netflix

I'm gonna assume you wanna stream 720p. I'd say go onto a 4mb line, stay away from afrihost and Axxess as they on MTN's network.
You'd wanna choose between 4 ISPs:

Mweb
Webafrica
Telkom &
Openweb

Mweb premium accounts I heard are excellent. There speeds (routing locally as well as internationally) are pretty good.
Webafrica, is currently the fastest ISP (for general customers, although RSAweb could be faster).
Telkom is telkom, also known for good speeds.
Openweb - I'm not really too sure about them, all i know for now (since i'm using there trial account) is they are on IS backbone.

Every ISP has it's issues, just depends how much you wanna fork out and how much data you wanna use and lastly, make sure you get an uncapped account of course.

+1 on this answer ghostbuster.

Also from the below you can ask for trail accounts and do some testing before making your move.

Im thinknig of the R644 deal from telkom, its 2mb uncapped. IF that doesnt fare well can chop and change as its not on contract.

Thanks though.

I used Telkom ISP before and were very happy with there speeds

i used to have 2mbps cap from telkom
and it stream 480 well
and when i watched movie trailers on youtube i set it on 720p let it load 10sec in then play
and i watch like 1-2min b4 it stops to bufffer again and sometimes it dont buffer at all

but u know how youtube are one time it plays the next vid its just dead

i am on 1mbps myself atm
and also want 2mbps

2mbps is a nice speed just for average streaming 2mbps will do for hd get 4/10mbps
1mbps streams fine,

i am with openweb now moved from mweb and its way better

mweb have alot of probs, with there speed, hade probs from last year,i said one more month and i was just fed up so i changed last month ,and its way better esp the streaming

look for a spesial from openweb they always got good deals on data accounts
and get your line from axxess there cheap 2mbps is R50 cheaper than telkoms 2mbps

Afrihost for great customer service and brilliant client management software But only if you don't live in the western cape because of throttling.

I have it and its amazing. R644 for an unshaped, uncapped line including ADSL line rental and POTS line rental + router + 3g modem. Had a look at my torrents a few minutes ago and adding up the speeds = 207kbps :)

Haven't noticed any buffering yet
