Hello chaps,

I've decided I want another 2 screens on my desk. What card would you guys recommend to do this, or should I just buy another dual head pci card?

I dont play games really, so 3D and amazing graphics and stuff isn't an issue.

Thanks a lot!

I'm scared I may become like you in a few years time rasputyn, I play less games as the months progress, I have lost interest

I suggest you buy another dual head pci card, but if you plan on getting Vista in the future, I'd check for a cheap card with enough memory, so the upgrade is seamless, I'll google around ;)

Hehe, unfortunately I don't have time to play games, coz I've got so much work, which will just be so much more bearable with 4 19" lcd's.

So then if I get another PCI card I just jam it in next to the AGP one and hopefully windows will take care of the screen bit in display properties...hopefully?

Just get another dual head pci card, it's way cheaper than a quadro. ;)

Just remember, if you got an Nvidia AGP card, get an Nvidia PCI card

Edit: seems like you can, the manufacturer ie. Nvidia ATI needs to be the same it seems

That chap wants to do some funky stuff, all I want is to be able to extend my desktop accross 4 screens...Firefox on one, Mail on another, Word on the other one and ard sh*t on the last!!

Then I'll be cool, probably wont pull chicks and my gf will laugh at me, but I will be the envy of at least one of my friends...

Yeah, he wants to do funky stuff, but the question was can you use AGP and PCI at the same time, and that thread says you can ;)

Yeh, checked that...I'm gonna have to do some more googling though, most of the people who work in your average PC store are too dimwitted to understand what I want. It's annoying!!

Thanks for your help man, much appreciated!

Edit: missed your other past teraside, I'm gonna goto the local pc shop tomoz and hook myself up with one. They should't be that pricey hey?

You scum, just when to thought I'll be so cool with my 3 17" crt's you go and make me jealous! :p

Luckily my total cost is only R2000 for the whole setup :D

I was considering the cost of it aswell, the problem is this: I want 4 of those Packard Bell 19" Diamond jobs, and at R2700 a pop, its gonna get pricey.

Im gonna have to settle for now with 1 x 17" Prestigio LCD, 1 x 17" Mecer LCD, 1 x 17" SyncMaster CRT and a 21" Compaq CRT.

Gonna need a bigger desk.

I looked at the FireMV 2400, its got 2 DVI outputs and says that it comes with Y leads. Doesn't that mean that it just splits the signal, so you get the same image on 2 screens, or is there something I'm missing?

Edit: Aaaaaand nevermind, it helps if you read all the way to the bottom,

The 2 included "Y" cables plug into the end of the FireMV card. Each cable splits into 2 displays each for a total of 4 independent displays.

Now I've gotta wrap my head around that idea.
