Best rechargeable camera batteries

This looks like a good deal
Seems pretty decent. If I'm reading it correctly it includes a couple batteries too?

Just spoke with the guy at the local camera shop and he recommended the Sigma EF-500 DG Super. He thinks its way better than the 430 and costs around the same. Anyone have experience with the Sigma flashes?

Yep, it would appear that way ... but the batteries don't seem to be Canon originals

Yeah, yeah - enough about you - what about that flash? :p

:D

The batteries will be nice to have just to us in the grip. I looked at batteries today and the 2700ma ones are r150 for 4

Anyone know of Hahnel stockists in the Gauteng area, as in walk-in shops, not online?

i'm using 2500mah hahnel batteries in my canon powershot s3is. works beautifully, i get snap happy and fill my 2gig card with pics and videos (taken with flash on) and still have enough battery power to connect the cam to pc and download the media...

Just picked up the flash - boy its a monster. I've got a feeling I'l be keeping the grip on the camera just to balance the thing out!

Go for Uniross or GP ... and not less than 2500mah.
For that flash you were talking about ... go for the sigma EF-500 Super DG .. its an awesome flash and half the price of the canon's.

Yeah - that's the flash I got.

To be honest I've never used such a sophisticated flash before so its going to take some getting used to. Busy playing around with it as a slave flash right now and can tell thats going to be interesting.

I've now got 2 dozen Uniross Hybrio's. Next step is finding that old charger of mine!

Man oh man, is that battery grip nice ... Gives alot of chunk to the camera, which I like, and the two batteries are a dream (9 days later and ±400 photos, battery capacity is still at full according to the camera) ... didn't even get the chance to try out the 6 AA Hybrios in the grip

Still havent decided about the hybrios yet but even if they're not suitable my kids still have plenty of power hungry toys so they wont go to waste.

Same here ... and I use the Energizer ones in all the VERY noisy toys ... when the battery's flat the battery's flat :D

[ot]For some nice effects for your flash, you can tilt the flash all the way to the right or most of the way ... or left ... to have light hitting from on side ... and for some different port shots at about 3m-5m ... put the flash on full power and point it either completely up ... or about 95% of the way to bounce the light and even it out accross the room ... or also ... point the flash completely vertical, and take the diffuser as much as you can without folding it down onto the actual flash ... you can then bounce the light off the diffuser [/ot]

lol - I've got a feeling its going to take me some time to figure out all the features of the flash. Might get a Fong's Lightsphere - been hearing quite a mentions of them recently.

bwana, I am getting myself two Lightspheres from Australia in December. The sizing charts on the site (http://store.garyfonginc.com/licl.html) doesn't make sense though. The "big" chart says size 3 for the Canon 430EX, but when you scroll down to the smaller dimension charts it indicates size 4 for the 430EX. Have you seen/heard anything wrt the actual sizes?

Thanks bud!

bwana, those Uniross 2700mAh batteries you recommended are pretty good, and they discharge pretty fast. My flash reload between shots went down from almost three seconds (on Energiser 2100mAh rechargeables) to just over a second.
