Would love to install CyanogenMod or something similar on my Note 2, not really worried about having the latest Lollipop etc just to want to start off with zero bloat but I'm worried it may be a bit glitchy and the S-pen features will be just about nil?

Any one used a reasonably recent custom rom successfully on a Note 2?
I virtually don't use a single Samsung factory app apart from perhaps the phone dailer and s-pen features.

Alternatively is there a trick to easily debloat the stock ROM without stuffing things up?

I invariably seem to tweak things to an inch of their lives trying to debloat and then have to very careful piece things back together when things get pared down a bit to over zealously, time consuming and irritating.

Alternatively anyone know what the easiest root method is for Kitkat factory ROM 4.42 on this phone, got it recently and haven't rooted it yet, well I was hoping I could install CyanogenMod and that would sort the rooting out..

Samsung has said that the Note 2 will get an official Lollipop ROM, just not when that will be.

If so, get yourself the Lollipop UK BTU ROM, it doesn't have any bloatware on it, and you can just disable the Samsung apps.

It's the best Samsung ROM I've used.

Thanks kingrob, that would be the UK BT network branded rom, which I can get at sammobile?
You've found that to be the least bloated ROM version, say compared to the local Vodacom branded roms what bloat is left out?
Do all the network/modem etc still work as it should even with UK rom?

Correct.

Vodacom has a boatload of preinstalled apps on their ROMs, I got 200MB RAM back when installing UK BTU ROM.

Nothing wrong with UK ROM, works 100%.

Just loaded the ROM, branding free, awesome!
Works perfectly as well, thanks Kingrob
