Hey guy's.

I was wondering what you consider to be the best skills to learn. The reason I ask is that i am considering rolling a new character and would like to know this before I learn some useless skill. Need 1 that will get more $$$.

I have used skinning & Leatherworking before.
 
If you want $$$, then you need to get a trading (collecting) skill. The basic idea, is that it is easier to collect, than to create. Therefore you arb arround, pick up your ore (mining for example), convert them to bars, and you sell them to the smithers to use...

Mining and Skinning are two very good collecting skills, but there are more...
 
If you want to make money - mining and skinning.

You mine and skin like crazy and dump it on the Auction House for all the Blacksmiths, Leather-workers etc etc. I do skinning and leatherworking. So far the leatherworking hasn't really brought in any money for me, but the skinning definately does. Friend of mine does mining and blacksmithing and he's ROLLING in the gold.
 
Mining... Always brings in loads of money. Dont be disheartened if you cant sell all the copper, the good stuff comes later.

Skinning... I guess that depends on the realm. From my own experiences, other forums and people that I have asked seems to agree that the cash comes a little slow with skinning.

The best tip for making money I can give you however is to not take tailoring as your chosen profession. The best source of money at the moment is probably the mats needed for tailoring.
 
The way I see it, and as mentioned in here, go for Mining and Skinning on your main character. Usually your skill level will keep up with your character level and you will always be able to skin the monsters you are busy killing or mine the ore you find while running around doing quests. You will not get rich overnight, but it should provide you with a steady income while grinding through the lower levels.

Once you get to about lvl 30 you can drop one of your gathering skills and try a manufacturing skill. Preferably one that compliments your remaining gathering skill. After about lvl 50 it is a waste of time running around looking for raw materials, so it will be better to then go for two manufacturing skills. It will be much more profitable to buy materials from the auction house and create high level stuff to sell to other players.

All that said and done, the way I did it was to create alternate characters doing all the manufacturing. My main character, with 250+ mining and skinning, supplies all the other characters messing around with tailoring, engineering, leather working, etc. Unfortunately there is a major catch doing it this way. You can only really start creating useful stuff once you hit skill levels above 150, which require your character to be at least level 20. Aiming for that magic level 40 with your main character, plus trying to get your engineer, tailor and blacksmith up to level 20 takes a hell of a lot of effort. Too much in fact to have a real life also ... :)
 
Mining and dis-enchanting :) It will seem expensive in the begin but towards the end when you are replacing your own items so often and then selling them to a merchant you begin to see the profit

But yeah mining and skinning/herbalism is the best
 
dis-enchanting isnt too much of a monkey-maker anymore.. markets are flooded with enchant mats now that everone is jumping aboard the band wagon, so you might as well just sell your greens and make more
