I just had the best experience with Telkom, yesterday I asked MWEB to log a fault on my line, thanks MWEB, and today at about 11 AM the Telkom guy showed up, as soon as he realised I knew what I was talking about and didn't have to dumb everything down the problem was sorted and my line jumped from 350kBps to 640kBps.

He told me in the 5 years he has been doing this he has never seen anyone with such a low SNR, 4.8dB, have a stable connection let alone at the speed I was getting. I knew I was right about the issue, some months back ADT came and installed a newer alarm, all they did was strip my telephone and attached two wires from the alarm, no filter or anything. When I told him I was convinced it was ADT he followed the line and found it, cut off the two wires and my line went from a sync of 3360 to 6200Mbps.

While I was walking him out we even talked Doctor Who 50th anniversary and Raspberry Pi as XBMC client.

Two thumbs up from me.

Wow I think that Telkom guy seems to know what he was doing. Wish I could find somebody like that in our area to help me.

I think has Telkom has improved, I applied for my ADSL line on Sunday (16th) Morning, and I got my voice+ADSL line installed this morning (20th), I'm quite impressed compares to my previous voice+ADSL application a few years back.
