EDIT:

Hey guys.

So I know I said I wasn’t interested in monitors, but it seems the space I have available in my bedroom is unfortunately not enough for a 55” tv. My current one is only 32” and is mounted on the wall in a nook in my bedroom, and having a massive tv there just won’t sit right as I sit quite close to the tv and it’ll cover my window.

So if anyone has any good monitors they can recommend I’d really appreciate it. Of course 4k, hdmi 2.1, and 120hz if possible please.

The Hisense A8H and the LG C1 are both number 1 on my tv list (thank you all so much for the recommendations) for the future if my space gets bigger, but for now, I think a monitor will be better suited to my needs.

Hey guys,

I hope everyone is well.

I need some advice from all the gamers please:

I’d like to buy a ps5 console, but I’m stuck as to what is the best tv to purchase. I know it needs to be 4k, be 120Hz, and need at least one HDMI 2.1 port. At the same time I would prefer not to have to break the bank as the ps5 costs R12,499 and most decent tv’s I’ve looked at goes around the R14k-R20k mark. So I’ll be in for around R28K or more, which I can afford, but feel it’s a bit much to spend on a weekend and evenings hobby.

What tv did you guys buy or what would you recommend and why?
I would prefer to spend 10k on a tv(or less - I know it’s probably not possible, but I’m just pushing my luck here).
If you have good recommendations more than the R10k to R12k mark please also do mention them as I might be willing to stretch my cash a bit if it’s irresistible.
I also don’t need a big tv. My current cheap Sinotec one is around 32”, so anything slightly bigger than that is fine. I don’t need the cinematic experience as I sit right up close to my tv mounted on the wall and I don’t have allot of space for a massive tv. And honestly I’m not a fan of monitors as I watch Netflix as well and don’t like the look of them.

I’ve seen that the Hisense U7G sells for around R10k at Makro for a 55” model - which is very affordable and it seems to have all the features one could possibly want for the ps5. My only gripe with Hisense is that allot of people complain about the sound and overall quality of Hisense tv’s. They don’t seem to last that long which is a bummer as I’d like to keep my tv for the next 6 to 10 years.

Thanks so much in advance to everyone who’s willing to weigh in.

Your fellow South African and loadshedding hater.
(Lol, couldn’t resist a jab at Eskom)

Lol , thanks epah. It is number one on my list for highest quality, but damn the $$$ money though!
It costs that much coz it is the best gaming tv you can get in SA. Gaming is expensive so suck it up and pay up.

Hisense doesnt like fast moving objects so gaming is a no no on them. You will have motions issues and ghosting. Avoid at all costs.

Anyways get a C1 if you want to enjoy gaming with no headaches.

Thanks so much. Let’s see if we get any other responses on this thread, but I do believe that you are right - I’m going to have to suck it up and pay $$$.

Yap, You will also enjoy blooming free gaming by going Oled instead of LCD which is old tech. HDR gaming will be bliss on the C1.

I can only imagine how awesome it would be. My siblings already have a ps5, but we’ve been playing it on an ordinary 1080p tv with no 4k no nothing. I’m tired of seeing a ps5 looking like a low quality ps4 game. Hence me wanting my own ps5 and upgrading to a high quality tv.

Hisense and Quality cant be used in the same sentence. You just proved why the C1 is the only TV for you. Cough up the dough. Forget about any other Christmas expenses and just spend it all on a C1.

Yup, it seems that way. Do you have the LG C1, epah?

No I dont. I bought a rubbish Hisense instead and i regret it till this day. My biggest regret in life. But i learnt a lesson from it. My motto now is never to reward myself with cheap junk ever again until the day I die. I will rather save and buy expensive but good quality products and live in bliss.

LG CX, C1 or CS are the best TV’s for gaming (not sure you can actually still get a CX though, maybe the is still some NOS out there for a cut price)

I am also 99% sure that you will be happy with a Hisense A8H OLED or U8H mini-led if you want to save a bit of cash.

I only have experience with the CX, but can tell you that I have never had, for a second, buyers regret. It does everything well - my primary content is SD content from the high seas, DStv supersport (1080i @ 50hz), gaming (ps5, pc)

Hisense OLED.

It has the C2'S OLED screen.
R6000 cheaper and all the gaming features too.

HDMI3: HDMI2.1 (eARC, ALLM, VRR (120Hz))
HDMI4: HDMI2.1 (ALLM, VRR (120Hz))
Freesync Premium

PLUS: Built in soundbar with sub (Dolby Atmos). 410W + 210W

Bonus: 4-year guarantee VS LG 2 year.

My Qled Hisense died 2 months before the 4-year guarantee (Two years with Takealot and extra 2 added when registering on Hisense's website.)

Takealot did not want to honor the extended guarantee, called Hisense and THEY called Takealot and told them to honor and replace the tv for the price purchased.

My Qled cost me nothing when I purchased it (eBucks) and then got a new Qled Tv and only had to pay in R2000 as it was a little more expensive than the older one.

55" Qled for R2000 :love::love::love:

Is this confirmed? Doesn’t the C2 have an “evo” panel? Cool if it does

Wow! You really won there then felixbf2. Glad it all worked out alright for you. The extra 2 years is also very tempting. Good to know their customer service is good .

Well, epah, I hope you can get to buy the LG C1 soon to brighten up your 2023.

Hisense 55A8H without a doubt.

I have done a fairly comprehensive review of the 65A8H in the Hisense thread. Lots of pics and info.

I also have the LG 55CX and 48C1.
