Well my family (excluding me) is going back there and i was hoping to pick up another ASUS G73JW but i see they are VERY expensive there compared to the US.
So i just want a capable laptop maybe a core i5 - i7 with a 5650. Something around there.

For some yes. Like the Asus laptops are cheaper here. But the Sony laptops are cheaper there.

I used to buy loads of gear in the UK on holiday to bring back home, even sometimes taking orders for friends, but my experience recently has been that even if you are willing to go through the whole schlepp of reclaiming your VAT, there's really no longer that much advantage -- certainly not enough to make it worth all the trouble AND the knowledge that if you have a warranty problem within the first year, in some cases, forget it! Are you willing to perhaps lose your warranty for the sake of a few hundred rand? Buying from the US is of course a different matter because it's so much cheaper than the UK.
