Best uncapped ISP for heavy downloading.

I download between 150 and 300 gigabytes a month. (Mostly from US news servers and some torrents). At the moment I am with MWEB and quite frequently my connection goes to S$%t and I have to restart the modem to get non dial-up speeds. Sometimes the restart works, sometimes it doesn't. It does feel like the more I download the S#$ttier the connectivity gets.

3 questions:

1. Does anyone else experience what I experience with MWEB? Their engineers swear that there is no separate routing pool for heavy downloaders, but my experience says otherwise.

2. Who should I be using?

3. Is 200 gb considered heavy downloading?

200gig is usually ok.

I say get Openweb GOLD. You'll never be moaned at for overusage there.

It's your ADSL line itself, not MWEB. I'd monitor your SNR when something like this happens if I were you and contact Telkom (if your line is with them) to report a fault, otherwise if your line is with MWEB, then give MWEB Guy a shout to test things once things goes to **** and they'll escalate for you.

Have had 0 problems doing what you're doing with my MWEB ADSL Uncapped account. There's no seperate routing pool. check your physical adsl line

*edit* Friend of mine had the same issue, he found picking up his phone and putting it down a few times helped, turned out to be loose wiring in the Telkom box.

I'm really starting to get fed up with them. It was perfect, when I signed up and had a VB account. But after an authentication problem, I've had to change my credentials endless times every time I reported an issue with poor daytime speeds. It really is getting frustrating seeing my speeds dip below 25% of my line speed during the day. Their latest line is that Gold accounts are shaped during the day, but unshaped after 18:00 and on weekends.
