Hi all
I am asking about uncapped again :(
i am trying to figure out who i should choose as my isp, id rather go for a no contract option, but I want a decent line speed, I have been through quite a few threads and seen that afrihost and mweb are cr@p
so all I want to know is what isp can I use that will give me the least issues with p2p and torrents, and I'm a gamer too (PS3) im going to use a 384k line and im not worried about my downloads taking a while I was thinking nexus (unshaped if you don't go too nuts That's what they say on the website) or axxes
any feedback would be appreciated
I have telkom for my line rental and my adsl rental of 384 k

Since you've ruled out Mweb, probably Openweb Gold. Bit more expensive, but might be worth the extra. Most of the other accounts are IS-based, and they are generally cr@p too.

I have mweb 384 unshaped. You can cehck the speeds I get in my thread. So far i am not sold that the unshaped account is worth it.

Mweb is fine for a 384kb line - it's the max you get no matter what account you buy from them.

I beg to differ, I have got a 4meg uncapped/shaped account from Mweb since September and that's the speed I get :). I'd recommend Mweb anytime.

I do on ave 100GB a month on my 4mb line...that's wud hardly be possible if the max I got was 384

MWEB has over 170000 guys on their network... don't judge them based on a couple of guys on the forum. For the price there is no better, if you are willing to go for a high cap then look at Afrihost.

BTW I am on MWEB and have no complaints, sitting here doing 200+ gigs a month on my "crappy" MWEB account.

More than "a couple of guys" I'd say. I used to be happy but since their upgrade it's been terrible for usenet downloads. It seems random though, some ppl are fine with full line speed and others get only 20 KBps on 4 Mbps accounts. So you take your chances with Mweb. And remember it's a calendar month cancelation period.

I'm going to try Axxess Just Uncapped 4096 from December. I like that it allows 2 concurrent connections so I can share the account and it will cost less than R250 each! I've used their Express product before and was happy with it for after hours use.

does ayone use LITE UNSAPPED from openweb? whats the max data u download a month on it? i got 70gig the 1st time (did not take oncapped yet again due to funds) but i want Nov again. Can some of u tell me how much u get out of it?

Thanx to all who helped me with my isp choice I chose Nexus and so far so good up and running now

Mods can lock this thread if required thanx

I am using mweb 512kbps uncapped shaped.
Would like the 4meg line but currently my exchange does not support it. Downloading stuff and always seem to max out. Already download about 12gigs in 3 days. :)

it does not really matter who you choose. they're all s@#* !!! whether you pay R198 or R10k you get no service in sa.

i've got bonded 4x4mb and its cr@p. i've cancelled it as its not worth paying R10k for it when mweb's R539 just as good.

my line had been down for hours yesterday, but come pay day you get no discount.

love or hate mweb, at least they try...
